Modern Fish Pond Construction

Supporting modern fish pond construction and stocking at Muramba 1 village in Bugoye Sub County, and four others within the downstream Nyamwamba micro catchment — in Kyondo, Kihara, and Buhaghura.

Fruit Orchards

Establishing 15 hectares of fruit orchards within the river catchments to provide sustainable food and income sources for riparian communities.

Beekeeping Programme

Supporting communities with KTB hives and accessories in the Nyamwamba downstream micro catchment. 25 hives and accessories, plus a bee colony, were provided to each of 12 groups.

Horticulture for Youth & Women

Supporting 4 Youth and Women groups in tomato and watermelon production with full packages — seeds, agrochemicals, fertilisers, and irrigation kits — earning good returns on investment.

Improved Cook Stoves

Promoting construction of efficient biomass cook stoves among women groups. Over 2,000 stoves have been constructed, halving the firewood needed and reducing pressure on forest cover.

Stone Value Addition

Training 30 youths in carving stones from the Nyamwamba valley into tables, bowls, sinks, and decorative items — creating dignified employment and a growing cottage industry.

Coffee Value Chain

Organising tree farmers into 10 branches, each supported to develop a coffee value chain business — bulking coffee for collective marketing to attract premium prices.

Rural Financial Services

Affordable Finance for All

MIFA operates a vibrant credit and savings cooperative union providing conventional and Islamic-compliant financial services to members of the farming communities it serves.

By operating a SACCO bank account through which payments are remitted to landowners, MIFA ensures transparent, accountable distribution of funds from carbon credit and tree planting projects.

Mobilisation & Registration

MIFA identifies and registers landowners expressing interest in the tree-growing programme.

Verification & Agreement

Landowners are verified by Eco-Trust and sign a formal agreement outlining terms and conditions.

Seedling Distribution

Inclusive financial products that serve communities with faith-based finance needs.

Collective Marketing

Groups bulk produce together to negotiate better market prices and reduce exploitation.
